Camping at Manistee River

Not much narrative here - just wanted to post the pics so everyone could take a look...
We had an awesome time - no traumatic crying or wanting to leave in the middle of the night. It was a huge success to all of those who gave us sideways glances and said, "you're taking B into the woods too?" Of course! Why would we leave him behind?! We love to be outdoors and the sooner we can get B into it the better (however, we're looking forward to the time when he can carry his own pack!)

Photobucket
Just the 3 of us and a tent!

Photobucket
At the trail head getting ready to hike in. I carried B, his food, extra clothes and of course, the camera! Total weight: 37lbs

Photobucket
Miker with his "buzz-off" bandanna - no bugs please!

Photobucket
We're up fairly high and need to get down to the river...

Photobucket
A recent wind storm knocked down many trees and made some spots on the trail challenging...

Photobucket
Mike...he carried the tent, both sleeping bags, B's bedding, 2 sleep pads, food + accessories, survival "stuff" (first aid, matches, bug spray, camp stove...) plus extra clothes!
Total weight: 40lbs

Photobucket
What a great picture - B is scraping the bark off the tree!

Photobucket
After a 45min hike, we arrived river side.

Mike, setting up camp

B is playing in the tent while we start a fire. When we unpacked - he laughed every time I pulled something out of a bag, i.e. pull the sleeping bag out - giggles, pull the sleep pads out - giggles!

Photobucket
The fire is good to go!

Ready for some dinner!

Photobucket
Feeding Bennett - Banana and oatmeal - yum!

Photobucket
Bennett's bed -he's laying on a closed-cell pad and wrapped in blankets, eventually I put a hat on him and socks over his hands to keep warm.

Photobucket
Our turn to eat...

Photobucket
Mountain House Turkey Fettuccine Alfredo and Lipton Chicken Noodle - whoa salt!

Photobucket
B was well entertained by the blue glow stick

Photobucket
Nice and toasty

Photobucket
Saturday morning - rise and shine! We woke up had breakfast, packed up and hiked out.

Photobucket
Back to the trail head by 1115am and off to see a bridge

"Little Mackinac"

Suspension bridge over the Manistee River

It's about 1 1/2 hrs to get home from the trail - we are already planning our next adventure! By the way - the more the merrier if anyone would like to go camping...
